As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The goal is to move your checkers carefully around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move their chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he/she at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the activity of your opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions hoping to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique uses seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly used when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
