As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to shift your checkers safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move his chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or result a bad position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of the opponent, your competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic relies on different techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is often utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
