As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Strategy
If the goal of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move her pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or result a battered position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the opponent doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game plan utilizes different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is generally employed when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
