The aim of a Backgammon game is to move your chips around the game board and pull them from the board quicker than your opposing player who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a round of Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and good luck. Just how far you can shift your chips is left to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and how you move your pieces are decided on by your overall gambling plans. Enthusiasts use a number of strategies in the different stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your checkers into your home board and get them off as quick as you can. This strategy focuses on the pace of advancing your checkers with little or no efforts to hit or barricade your competitor’s chips. The best scenario to use this tactic is when you believe you might be able to move your own chips a lot faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Technique

The main goal of the blocking strategy, by its title, is to block your competitor’s chips, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your checkers quickly. After you’ve established the barrier for the competitor’s movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other checkers quickly from the board. The player will need to also have a clear plan when to back off and shift the chips that you employed for the blockade. The game gets intriguing when your competitor uses the same blocking tactic.
