The objective of a Backgammon game is to shift your pieces around the game board and bear those pieces from the game board quicker than your competitor who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a match of Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and luck. Just how far you will be able to move your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you shift your pieces are determined by your overall playing techniques. Enthusiasts use differing strategies in the different stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game plan is to entice all your pieces into your inner board and pull them off as quickly as you could. This tactic focuses on the speed of advancing your pieces with no time spent to hit or stop your competitor’s checkers. The ideal time to use this tactic is when you think you might be able to shift your own pieces quicker than the opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the board; 2) all your pieces have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary aim of the blocking plan, by its name, is to stop your competitor’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your checkers rapidly. As soon as you have established the blockade for your competitor’s movement with a couple of chips, you can move your other checkers rapidly off the game board. The player should also have an apparent strategy when to back off and move the pieces that you employed for the blockade. The game gets interesting when the opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
