As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point two and point eleven in your board. Once you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the movement of the competitor, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game plan uses alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game plan is generally utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the chips are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
