As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon plans to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the aim of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move her chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, the competitor does not even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your pieces and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game strategy uses different tactics to do that. The Back Game plan is generally employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
