As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your pieces safely around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully built the prime to block the activity of your competitor, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to harm your opponent’s positions in hope to better your odds of winning, but the Back Game strategy utilizes alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is commonly utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
