As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to round out your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or result a bad position if he ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of your competitor, your opponent does not even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Strategy
The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game technique uses different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often used when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
